Who is responsible for your data

What we collect and why
- Contact form
- Your name, email address and message, so we can read and reply to your enquiry.
- Emails to us
- Your email address and anything you tell us, so we can reply, including job enquiries sent to us by email.
- Technical data
- Basic details such as IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider records in server logs to keep the site secure and working.
We don't ask you to create an account, we don't take payments through this website, and we don't sell your data or use it for automated decision-making.
Our legal basis
We use your contact details to answer you because it's in our legitimate interests to respond to the people who write to us, and, where you're asking about work with us, to take steps at your request. Server logs are kept for our legitimate interest in site security. Where we rely on your consent for anything, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We only share data with the services that help us run the site and read your message:
- Web3Forms, which delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
- Google (Gmail), where our inbox is hosted, and Google Maps, embedded on our home page.
- Our website host, which serves the site and keeps server logs.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, it's under recognised safeguards such as the UK's international data transfer rules.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to reply and deal with any follow-up, and normally delete them within 12 months. Server logs are kept for a short period set by our host.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your data;
- restrict or object to how we use it; and
- move your data to another provider, where that applies.
Email caffeforesta@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
